FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

We often get sort of the same questions regarding the KORI Coyote concept, here are some answers to the most common questions:

Do I wear KORI under the jacket?
Yes. For optimal protection the back protectors are worn underneith the jacket, as close to your spine as possible. KORI back protectors includes D3O Viper PRO which is the absolute softest and most flexible back protector so you do not have to worry about the feeling of having a hard and limiting protection when you're driving - it' should be comfortable to have a back protection on!

Isn’t it warm to wear a back protector under the jacket?
Sure it gets warmer to have a back protector compared to having a loose back plate in the jacket. But KORI is well ventilated and have a 3D-structures polyester mesh against your back that allows the moist air to vent away from the body. However, it is important to also have good material in the clothes you are wearing under the protection.

Can you really put a whole motorcycle equipment in the backpack?
Absolutely! Jacket, pants and a helmet goes down the back protector when it is folded out as a backpack, it may be difficult to understand that an entire motorcycle equipment fits inside a backpack, but we have proven and surprised many with the volume that KORI can provide when it is folded out.
Read an example here!

Can you find KORI without the backpack part?
Sure! We are expanding our product range, KORI Ocelot is a new back protector coming soon. It is for those who do not feel they have the need for backpack but still want to be able to get the comfortable and flexibile properties of KORI's back protector with its comfortable strapping and flexible D3O material! Learn more about KORI Ocelot here!

Why does KORI costs more than other back protectors?
KORI is simply better than all others in every way! Firstly, we make sure that all our products have unique design solutions and features that our competitors do not have, both in function, fit and durability. We also make sure to maintain the highest quality in all our production. All our products are made in Sweden, with the quality and the environmental impact that we feel that we can stand for!

Why have not I heard of KORI before?
KORI is a new concept, a new brand and a brand new company. We came out on the market in 2012 and we spread slowly and surely over the world. We have decided that instead of spending large budgets on offensive marketing, we focus on being responsive to what the market demands and work to meet it through innovative design thinking and optimal solutions – and that way you finally find us anyway!

Powder and sunshine with KORI

kori ocelot back protector skiing lina sundgren

We've received a greeting from our new test person Lina Sundgren who is currently in Italy in bright sunshine with lovely powder-covered mountains.

High mountains is her call, skiing is her passion and adventure is her middle name!
During 2013, Lina Sundgren will be out and test KORIOcelot our new back protector that will be launched next winter season. Lina is Environmental consultant at WSP in Malmö, she has worked for Ski Unlimited since 2006, she is involved in Camp Lofoten, and she has lived in both the Norwegian Lofoten and in the Alps.

We've followed her when she walked up the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, which brought both skiing and climbing and we will get to follow her to a ski adventure in Davos (Switzerland), in Morge (Italy), in Charmonix (France) and not to forget her favorite place on earth, Henningsvaer, Lofoten (Norway), where she will join tours and be involved in the CampLofoten. It feels incredibly inspiring for us to follow Lina on her adventures!

Linas impression KORI Ocelot is that it is flexible, lightweight and comfortable!

KORI in the discussion about oil, transportations and consumption

kori back protector minimizing world transportation with local production in swedenThis morning I heard a great discussion on the radio (Morgonpasset i P3, SverigesRadio) regarding our future and our oil consumption, something that we all are more or less aware of. The Swedish professor in physiology Kjell Aleklett who were guest this morning described “Peak Oil”, how we have reached our maximum in oil consumption and that it cannot continue to increase.

Kjell explains how fish from the Atlantic – is freezed – transported to China to be cut into filets and then transported back, it is cheaper that way… Are we really that greedy?

As we are talking about China, China is a large and strongly growing nation, we are aware of that. The thing is, as our society looks today, a growing nation implies a growth in oil consumption. Growth = increased consumption = increased production of goods and services - goods and services that needs to be transported by machines that need oil = increased oil consumption. I hope, I do not need to go in to the details why this is bad..

Chinas oil consumptions increases with 7% each year, they are growing today as Sweden did in the 1945-1970, and who are we to tell them not to… We have to let them grow, but we also need to be aware of what this means and come up with a way to change our consumption habits, read oil consumption

The world, and mostly the growing parts of the world, need oil for production and transportation. And of course we, our company KORI, is also a part of this consumption, but at KORI we try to be aware and try to think at least one step ahead.

Our KORIback protector/backpack is mainly made out of polyamide (Nylon) and Polyester which are plastic materials which comes from the oil. Despite this discussion about oil, we still choose to work with plastic textiles because there are no other materials that can live up to their strength and durability which is of essence for the high quality and long lifecycle that we strive for. Also, as Kjell mentioned in the interview, taking oil(plastics) and transforming it into products with a value is much better for the national economy than letting it exhaust. So in the case of choosing materials, we choose long lasting products that wont end up in the growing mountains of garbage.

When we turn the coin and look upon our part in “production and transportation” we are proud and hope to be exemplary. When we started this company, KORI experience AB, many told us to turn to China to find a production. But for several reasons, this discussion in particular, we did not. We were, and still are stubborn with the hope that more people will understand why... ...why we choose to keep our production local, 3 hours drive from our office. With the backup of this very present discussion with “Peak oil” there is no excuse not to…

The relation to consumption read oil is just like any addiction, the difference is that the addict is a whole worlds population and the body is the earth with all its nations and their economy and climate.
